Welcome to the 12mR Anitra website …

Anitra is one of six nearly
identical 12mR yachts built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 1928, based on the
design of W. Starling Burgess. All six boats were built within five (!)
months only. Once finished, they were transported by vessel to
Halifax/Canada, from where they sailed on their own keel to New York in
order to avoid US customs duties on imports. The six Yachts were named
"Waiandance", "Isolde", "Tycoon", "Iris", "Anitra" and "Onawa". Out of
those gorgeous looking yachts, just two have luckily survived, Onawa and
Anitra. Onawa has been restored already. Now, a partnership, Mast GbR, is
undertaking the challenging task of bringing Anitra back to her former
glory.
The 12mR's combine timeless maritime forms designed by W. Starling Burgess
with the outstanding craftsmanship in which these yachts were built at the
shipyard of Abeking & Rasmussen. These Bermuda rigged meter yachts were a
feast for aesthetic eyes with their lovely finished details and fine
materials. Once restored, "Anitra" will become again a breathtaking
overall work of art incorporating the fragrance of wood, a slim mast, the
inimitable elegance of the contours blend with sails full of wind.
